About
Saskia is an emerging studio portrait photographer based in Perth, Western Australia, known for a unique and moody aesthetic and an experimental approach to the medium. She is currently refining her technical and artistic voice while studying photography at North Metropolitan TAFE.
Her work is defined by its raw textures, moody lighting, and unconventional compositions, constantly pushing the boundaries of classic portraiture to capture the defiant, authentic spirit of her subjects. This distinctive style is heavily inspired by her father, a foundational creative influence in their life, Hank Gidney. Having worked closely alongside him on collaborative projects with ARTISTICSOUL, Saskia developed a deep appreciation for collaborative artistry and the power of visually striking narratives early on.
Deeply intertwined with her creative practice is a strong passion for women’s rights and female empowerment. Saskia aims to dismantle conventional, objectifying gazes through an edgy, alternative approach to intimate portraiture. By creating a safe, collaborative studio space, her is focus on capturing people feeling entirely confident, powerful, and deeply rooted in their own skin.

Photography is not about manufacturing a flawless, sterile image; it is about capturing an unfiltered attitude.
Coming from a background rooted in London's gritty creative energy and fuelled by the rhythms of alternative music, I treat the studio as a laboratory. I reject predictable setups in favour of moody lighting and experimental techniques that reveal the raw, authentic essence of who you are.
